As I finally sit down at my couch, I think to myself about the long day that had just passed. Most of you know that they musical is coming up so the all day tech rehearsals start coming along with it. I just got home from tech and I came in and sat down to write this. I don't really have much to talk about because ever since lunch today I have been working and I will not spoil the snow for you, or give away tech secrets really. I just want to say that the daily blogs bight become sparse over this next week but I will try my best to continue as much as I can really but some might come late. As soon as the play is over I will get right back to timely updates everyday. I also want to add that every one of you should come see the play either next Thursday, Friday, or saturday. We all have put so much time and effort into this so I know that it will be worth it. Break a leg to all the actors!
There it goes. Its over. Done. Never again will I put on the blue and gold and battle for Fenn, at least in hockey anyway. Today was the last game of the season for hockey and for those of us in the 9th grade that means in our career. For those of us who have been on the team for two or three years this marks a ending point in our hockey lives. What better way to end a season than to play our biggest rivals, Fessenden. Early in the year we played them in a short tournament game and we won by one goal so we knew that it would be a big game. Unfortunately we let in a goal early but we got it right back to tie it up. The same thing happened again a few minutes later. We held them at that for a while and we had many chance that were as close to a goal that not a goal could be but we never capitalized on them. I don't know what happened but we just let them tear us apart in the 3rd to gain a big lead. We ended up losing by a good margin. Not the best way to end a career.Maybe if we got lucky on some of those chances it would be a different game but what are you going to do. The only word I have to say is disappointment. It has been a great two seasons and thank you to anyone and everyone that shared it with me.
The sound of the music slowly getting louder. Until I wake from my nightly slumber. Today I got up brighter and earlier than before. The reason for this is to finish some homework from the night before but not for the reasons that you think. Most of the that you do homework in the morning is because you slack and not do it from before but I did something different. Instead of staying up late to do it the night before, I went asleep and 9:00 to wake up at 5 the next day. I don't know why but waking up early makes me feel better if I get up early and not just sit there late at night. I know that Fitz did the same thing all throughout college so he can testify to this as well. I recommend that everyone tries this one day I promise that you will feel good about it.
Ever since Christmas and winter break I have had one goal to to on my free time, this is a goal that started ever since I got a 3D printer as a present. If you have passed Mrs.Maclellan's room anytime you might have noticed the 3D printer in her room. Now that printer is much more expensive than mine but you have the benefit of it working out of the box, meaning that as soon as you get it you turn it on and it works as good as it ever will. Unfortunately mine does not come with that luxury. I had to build mine from almost nothing and turn it for many, many hours until I can get it to its full potential. To this day I still have not been able to get my working like I know it can. Although you may think that it is better to have one like fenn's I had the added benefit of learning about the technology inside of it. Since I had to make it myself I know what is going on if something goes wrong, which it does. Once I get my printer to its full potential I will even be able to make it better than the one that Fenn has because I have seen it be done before with the same printer as mine. It will take a while but eventually I will succeed.
This past saturday I woke up bright and early to go to a robotics competition. I told you that one got rescheduled and this is it. If you don't know what this is, like I assume that most of your don't, you compete on a ten foot by ten foot playing field which you control your robot to do certain challenges to get points. There are two alliances on the field at once and two teams on each alliance so there are four robots on the field. If your alliance scores more points than the other team then you win. During the morning in the placement matches your alliance member is random but those matches ge you placed for the afternoon. Once you get your placement the top four teams choose their alliance member for the knockout rounds later. So in are first competition a while ago we won the afternoon and we also won the overall award for all parts of the competition, yes there is more, so going into this competition we already had our spot for states and we won the inspire, the overall award, so we could not win it again. At this competition we ended up winning with our alliance partner so we got that award again and we got another award for the other part of the competition so we ended up winning the most and best possible awards for these two competitions. It is safe to say that we had some success and this is all before states next weekend. I will definitely talk about that next week when it comes up. So look forward to an update in the future.
This Thursday was the most usually, predictable, straightforward day that it could possible be. So I was struggling to find a topic to talk about today when my dad asked if I could help him with something. As I was walking down stairs in a joking way he said "I'm trying to save the house from exploding." I knew that he was joking but I was still wondering what he wanted help with. Apparently he was watching the news and a house exploded from the heating vents being covered in snow. So we walked outside and funny enough they were covered in snow. If you have ever shoveled snow a few days late you know what the problem was, it was heavy and hard. To add to this it turns out that the gutter on that side of the house is broken so on top of the snow it was solid ice. After doing as much as we could working around the massive glacier on the side of the house, we determined that the vents that we were digging out were not being used by the heating. So what we did was not really saving the house but it was good to do anyway. After warming up my hands I will put the final touches on my WW Fenn for tomorrow.
As almost all of the students in the 9th and 8th grade at Fenn know, applications to high schools were due the 15th or sometimes the 30th of January. Once the applications are in all you have to do is wait for the schools to reply and see if you get in. I know that we turned in the applications a long time ago but for some reason this came up more than once today that the date when we find out is coming closer. Part of me can't wait to find out if all the hard that we did over the course of the fall has paid off, but the other half does not want to see them because I know that there will be some disappointment along with the great joy, some more than others. Also deciding what school I go to next signifies more than that, it signifies the end of our fenn careers. This year has gone by so fast and although I am excited for what next year brings it is a bittersweet moment because I don't want to leave these five years behind, five years of the best in my life.
Last weekend was full of sitting on the couch and wanting to be anywhere but there. This weekend was the exact opposite, I was doing so much that I almost wanted to sit down again. It all started on Friday when the weekend started to seem not so busy because I did not have a hockey game that Friday like I normally do so we just had practice instead. After practice I went to a friends house to stay there until I went to Fenn Flames, and indoor soccer team, where we ended up tying in the 90th minute. I got home late that night so I slept in on saturday and did not do much all day because the snow storm did not allow it. Sunday seemed like it was going to be a lazy day with the car trapped in by snow until my friend called us, my sister and I, and asked if we wanted to go skating with him. If you did not know there is a skating in cambridge that you can join and it is basically just flooded tennis courts that we play pond hockey on. It does not sound like much but we all just do it to have fun. So we spent that night playing hockey, drinking hot chocolate and eating cookies, and spending time with our friends. The next morning I got up way too early but it was for a good reason because I was going snowboarding with my cousin and his cousin in-law, what ever that makes us I don't know. So from seven in the morning until five at night I was out snowboarding all day. As soon as I got home my sister wanted to go play some more hockey so I agreed with not a single second to site down. We spent the rest of the night skating like the night before but we stayed out late because the club stayed open longer. So here I am today, writing this blog and doing my homework, but the weekend is not over. Today I am going to go to David's house to work on the robot for the competition that was scheduled for for last weekend but got canceled due to the snow but is rescheduled for a few weekends from now. This weekend has been busy but not too busy because I am glad that I finally got out of the house and not let the snow hold me prison.
Sorry this was not very interesting this was more of practice for in future. Tell me if you like these then I will continue with these in the future.
So I don't know how this connects to my daily blog but I was at a loss for what I was going to say so I looked around my room and this is what I found to right about. So my question to you is what is in your room? I am looking for what is in your room that defines you as a person. I have three things that I think make me, me. The first is if you are looking up while lying down on my bed you will find a painting of a sailboat in the Boston harbor. This tells your two thing, that I love to sail and that I like Boston and that I live there. So just by looking at this one thing you already know about my life. The next things are two but are related. The first is my construction helmet that is decorated with a sharpy and the next is a Camp Becket banner with a pin on it. The helmet is from my last summer when I did a construction cabin and all the markings on it remind me of my memories of that summer with my friends because each thing is an inside joke that only they get. The banner shows that I like Camp Becket and that I believe in it more than a normal summer camp. The last thing is that I have a bunk bed. Now I dont have a sibling that I share a room with so this shows that I enjoy to have friends over and that I am someone that enjoyes company. So just from these four things you know about most of my life. So as you read this I want you to think about the things in your room and comment down below what makes your room tell your story.
