This poem is about thinking back to my days at Becket and reliving them to be awakened from my dream to find myself in my busy life.
Waking up from the chirp chirp chirp of the birds
Slowly marching down the hillside buried beneath a hood
I drown out the loud noises that follow
Only hear the words "lets eat"
Sweeping up the dust left from the past day
A loud whistle blows
We run so we won't be late
Lining up, toe to toe, shoulder to shoulder
Raising the pride of the his great nation
A surge of water goes over my crew
The wind is both and enemy and a friend
With out it, we fail
But it makes the trek hard
Reliving the best times
Until I wake up
Into the busy life I live
I know that this is the last thing that you want to hear and believe me it is not what I want to be thinking about. Although I try to keep away from this thought I can't help but to be pulled right back to it. I know that there is nothing more I can say about this but I can't think about anything else. It is not so much the stress and fear but more of the restless energy that follows everywhere it goes. The excitation is shared across everyone and we all understand what each other are going through. For some of us this will be the best thing that has ever happened to us but for others it is a most feared day and for the rest it is some of both. But whatever happens tomorrow just remember that life will go on and whatever school you go to you will enjoy it and succeed in many aspects of your life.
Life is a game of cards.
The entire game rests on the hands of the dealer.
Some are dealt a flush.
Other have to work with what they a given.
Rising up from 2 of heart.
Only to reach to reach the 5 of clubs.
Others flash there king of diamonds
Only to look for the Ace of Spades.
But this is not normal deck of cards
This deck is of 7.1 billion
Buts its a rigged game
805 million have the 2 of hearts
while some can't count all of their Aces
We're not given the aces.
We're not given the 2's
but we're given a hand we can play.
Some fold and cannot stay.
~Rob, Jack, Matt.
As most of you know, last night was the opening night of this years musical "curtains". For all of the cast and crew it was the first day that we got to share all of our hard work with you. It is the combination of many many hours of hard work that finally came together. For me being on the tech side, many good things came out of this performance. The biggest thing was that we made all three of the screen changes that we never have made in time before. We practiced before and cut our time down a lot but we never have done it in a show and have made it for the next screen. Although it was a good performance there were many things that we could work on but why should I tell you all of our mistakes before they happen? If you want to know you will have to come to the show. We have another show tonight and saturday so dont miss it!
I know that this is not the most interesting topic but I can't get it out of my mind. The only thing that I have been able to think of is what will happen on march 10th. I want to be excited to find out where next years leads my but part of me does not want to know. I know I have said this before but I just can't not think about it. I am excited to move on to a high school but it pains me to leave behind Fenn and all of the relationships I have built with each and everyone of you throughout the last five years. I wish I had more to talk about but I just cant get over the massive date that is march 10th. The entire grade will be filled with utter joy and major disappointment and some of both, but remember life will go on.
As the day comes closer, the excitement grows and grows. In just a few days the curtain will open of "Curtains" on opening night. I would like to say that we are all ready but you are never fully ready for a show. It just some how comes all together in the last seconds like nothing happened. We all have been working so hard from tech to actors and we are so excited to show you what the last 3 months as led too. If I have not convinced you to come I highly recommend that you do. Even if you don't like plays just come to see all of your classmates put themselves out there for the enjoyment of the house. If I still have not convinced you come because if anything happens it is my fault, but after all that is my job. I am sorry that this has been a short update but we all have been busy lately with the show. Break a leg!
If you have read my last posts you know that I went to a states robotics competition this saturday with my team. At this competition there were the top FTC teams in massachusetts and we were lucky enough to be one of them. This is are first year doing this competition so going into this season over the summer we thought we would get destroyed and it would be a learning experience for next year. Little did we know that we would be one of the top 32 teams in massachusetts. To do well you either need to be at the top or just be picked by one at the top because the top teams pick members to alliance with for the elimination rounds. In the beginning of the day our robot did not perform as well has we would have hoped so we did not make it to the top of the standings, which was a problem because we were not on the radar of the good teams. Luckily enough the team that we partnered at the previous competition was at the top and they knew what we could do and that we could work together well. So they ended up picking us which made our day go from bad to really good but it does not stop there. We did well with are alliance and made it to the finals against both of the winners from last year, we gave them a run for their money but could not pull it out and the final game of a best of three. We ended up second winning two other awards so we thought we were successful, but after all the awards were handed out they asked the coaches from 7 teams to come to the desk and we were called. I already knew what it was, but my team did not already knew. I knew because they needed to ask our coaches if we could go to Scranton pennsylvania to represent Massachusetts in the NE regional qualifier!
