If any of you have been sailing, there is nothing like the feeling of flying on the water on a strong, windy day, holding the main sheet in one hand and the tiller in the other. Perhaps this feeling is why from the first day of camp 4 years ago, I got hooked on it and I decided that I would want to pursue my new found passion of sailing. But sailing at camp was not the first time that I have ever sailed. In fact, ever since I was young I have been sailing with my uncle up and in Maine. But when I was there I very rarely got to skipper the boat (drive it), I would just be part of the crew. Well this was fun and I always wanted to sail more, just helping out was not enough. When I got to camp I was excited to captain my own boat because all those years I have been watching my uncle and picking up all the tricks of the trade and I was ready to sail all on my own.
I am so thankful that I had the wonderful opportunity to go to summer camp because it gave me the chance to develop new skills and help support me in pursuing a passion that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
